FAQ

No. I am not a licensed therapist. What I do provide is peer support, coaching and obsessive-compulsion disorder (OCD) consultations (see my list of services).

I offer peer support, coaching, consultations and referrals for people struggling with anxiety and OCD. I work with people to help support and coach them in their mental health journey while also providing appropriate referrals.

A peer support specialist is someone who has personal and lived experience dealing with the issues that you are struggling with. This lived experience will help you feel not alone while building on the past experiences to motivate and support you along your journey.

Please see my about me for more detail, but I will quickly summarize things here:
I am a California-certified peer support specialist. I also hold a master’s degree in educational counseling and a doctorate in organizational leadership.
I have been a college counselor for over 10 years helping students with personal struggles, motivation, career exploration, and anything else needed to help them succeed in college.
I have been a mental health advocate since 2021 posting, writing, researching, and advocating for a wide range of mental health topics.
Additionally, my wife and I have co-authored a book about our struggles with my OCD.

As previously stated, I have been an educational counselor for over a decade. In that time, I have worked directly with people who were struggling with their mental health by providing support, coaching and referrals to mental health specialists. However, since 2021, I have made a more concerted effort to help people online who are struggling specifically with OCD. I have done one-on-one coaching for OCD and anxiety since that time.

No. I believe that both need to play a role in optimizing mental health recovery and success.

Yes, I believe both are important and work well together!

Therapy is great. You should be in therapy if you need it. I have gone to a lot of therapy. But, having someone who has been in your shoes is very important. Additionally, I have spent years navigating the complex world of mental health and finding services for mental health and OCD. I will use my experience to try to help connect you to a qualified therapist who will help you along your journey.
